The plates for the Cuisinart Sandwich Maker GRSM1U, Waffle Maker WAF1U, and 2-in-1 Sandwich & Waffle Maker GRSM1WU are fully interchangeable. Extra plates are available from Cuisinart Accessories & Spares.
The only difference between the machines is that the Sandwich Maker and 2-in-1 Sandwich & Waffle Maker have a variable temperature control, whereas the Waffle Maker has a fixed temperature control.

I can't get any regular sliced bread to fit this sandwich toaster. I tried Hovis and Warburtons toasty both of which are too small to make the edges seal so it's going back unused. I noticed the Brevile had slightly smaller plates when I was shopping and regular bread will fit. Maybe they know more about bread size than cuisineart, shame...

I have been very pleased with this product. It allows me to make a range of well-filled sandwiches very quickly and easily. Its biggest virtue however is the removable plates- the joy of NOT having to wash the whole machine after use has encouraged everyone at home to make sandwiches and wash up afterwards!
