I love this kettle, it's quick, quiet and being a coffee drinker I love the different temperature settings. I no longer have to wait for the water to cool down slightly before brewing my coffee. As usual the efficient professional service one expects from John Lewis.

Looks great, heats quickly, very sturdy and reasonably quiet.
However.....the lid doesn't release easily and the base unit has a really annoying 'beep' to advise a) that you have turned it on (you tend to be aware of this as it can be no further than arms length away) and b) it has boiled. Not at all necessary.

This kettle is elegant as well as being wonderful in providing right temperature water each time it is used.

My son decided that we needed a kettle upgrade so looked at the Which report and came up with this one. It was quickly delivered and in use. We were not expecting the fairly loud 'beep' that accompanies the start and end of the heating process.Other than that it heats the water to the desired temperature quietly, as the bottom part is some type of plastic rather than metal. There are three temperature choices of 100, 90 and 70 degrees and the water stays warm for a long time after heating. Very stylish design too!

Item delivered 15.12.2014 , looks great in the kitchen with white gloss cupboards, timer is a little annoying but happy to put up with it,, however this week the button you depress to flick up the lid to fill it is sticking and standing repeatedly pressing it is getting very irritating, I have the toaster also if it goes back for a replacement , I hope its a one off,, but reading the reviews it looks like I'm not the only one having this issue with the lid ....

Bought this kettle in November 2012 following review in magazine. We were looking for a quiet boil kettle. To start with,it was, we do not mind the beep..
Noted that the noise of the boil has increased to an unacceptable level. We can not hear the radio in the kitchen. Then in December 2014 the kettle started to leak into the base and then onto our wooden work top. This will have to be re sanded. Now standing the kettle on a tray to catch the drips.
Is there a quiet kettle on the market or one that lasts beyond the guarantee?

Lovely looking kettle. Boils quickly and holds a good amount of water when full.
Only down side is the beep when turned on and once boiled as other reviews have mentioned! Not needed.
The lid on mine has become obstinate and only opens when it thinks fit ! I may return it and get a replacement.
