FAQs:
How compact is the Rode NTR microphone?
The Rode NTR microphone is a compact system packing industry-leading technology into a sturdy body. The set weighs approximately 1047g and measures 216 (H) x 65 (W) x 65 (D) mm, so there is no excess bulk. These measurements make the Rode NTR an excellent option for content creators needing a rugged microphone that is easy to store and transport.
What polar pattern does this microphone use?
The Rode NTR microphone has a Figure 8 polar pattern that best captures sound with either the front or back side of the microphone, which is an advantageous feature for recording live harmonies or vocals and instruments.
Does the Rode NTR include a stand?
The Rode NTR comes with the RM2 stand. The stand mount employs a sturdy mechanism ensuring trouble-free movement and positioning of microphones. It allows the microphone to be positioned in one place without requiring a person to hold it.
What is the ribbon element of the NTR Microphone?
The NTR’s distinctive design positions the ribbon separately from the microphone frame and body, maximising acoustic transparency around the ribbon element while minimising resonance. The ribbon element is entirely crafted from scratch, utilising exceptionally thin 1.8-micron aluminium—among the thinnest ribbons available. An innovative, in-house technique was devised for laser-cutting the ribbon, resulting in unprecedented precision and accuracy in ribbon microphone technology.
What is the hardware of the NTR Microphone like?
Encompassing the ribbon element is a chemically-etched, all-metal mesh layer—identical to the one utilised in the SMR pop shield. This mesh is exceptionally rigid yet boasts an extremely low density, ensuring heightened acoustic transparency. Paired with the ribbon element is a high-output, ultra-low noise, low-impedance transformer. This setup enables the NTR to be compatible with various preamps, eliminating the additional gain needs often associated with many other ribbon microphones. The robust frame surrounding the ribbon is entirely situated within the rejection zone of the capsule's bi-directional polar pattern, reducing acoustic shadowing. Additionally, the ribbon is isolated from the microphone body to minimise resonance.
