Smooth Cinematic Footage

The Zhiyun Smooth 5S has been designed to let you effortlessly capture cinematic footage. Its structure is made up of three orthogonal pivot axes that allow greater creative possibilities. The space between each axis is wider than other Zhiyun smartphone gimbals, allowing extreme-angle shots to be captured. Supporting that flexibility are the magnetic steel motors with upgraded algorithms that help in operating larger phones.

A wider phone clamp also allows external lenses to be used with the phone when attached to the Smooth 5S, so you’re not restricted when it comes to setting up for shoots. When using the gimbal for high-intensity shots, the Smooth 5S sports anti-shake stabilisation so every frame remains sharp and clear without restricting your camera movements.

Lighten Up

Improving on the Smooth 5, the Zhiyun Smooth 5S features a new built-in fill light. Found on the tilt axis, the fill light offers 650 lux peak illuminance with a colour temperature of 5000K and a 90+ CRI rating. Two additional, separately purchased, magnetic lights can also be attached to the Smooth 5S and together all three lights offer a staggering 2040 lux peak illuminance that will surely light up any scene.

Intuitive Control and Effects

Different modes and functions open up creative possibilities - and they’re all accessible from your fingertips. An intuitive control panel lets you adjust settings and modes whilst shooting with the same hand. One of those modes lets you quickly switch between horizontal and vertical shooting modes, and the Vortex Mode lets you take that movement further by spinning the phone in a 360° motion.

A collection of shooting modes can be accessed from the control panel; including Pan Follow, Lock, Follow and POV. Each mode is distinctively different and lets you utilise the movements of the gimbal in creative ways. On the side of the Smooth 5S is a control wheel that can be used to control the zoom and focusing of your device. It also lets you incorporate the dolly zoom effect into your videos.

Effortless Shooting and Editing

Thanks to the ZY Cami app and quality-of-life features of the gimbal, the Smooth 5S allows for effortless production and post-production. The free-to-download ZY Cami app lets you create, edit and share videos shot with the Smooth 5S. When shooting, the app offers SmartFollow - a feature that tracks selected subjects and also allows remote operation from hand gestures. ZY Cami also lets you use creative camera features that are often difficult to set up and execute, such as timelapse, slow motion and panoramic shots featuring clones of yourself.

This iOS and Android app is great for editing too, particularly thanks to AI shooting templates that intelligently pairs your favourite shots with music, filters, captions and stickers. To keep the camera rolling, the Smooth 5S has a battery life of up to 24 hours and only takes two hours to power up the gimbal to 100%.
