Expanded Blackmagic Camera Fiber Converter Key Features:
SMPTE Fiber Cable
The camera fibre converter by Blackmagic uses the standard SMPTE 311M hybrid electrical and fibre optic cables, that have SMPTE 304 connectors on each end. This enables a long cable run of up to 2 km, and the camera can be placed anywhere within that distance. This cable features a 2-way fibre pair, power pair, data pair, and central strength member for durability. You can use the cable for long hours and it automatically performs safety checks, once it is plugged in. It powers up automatically and sends an industry-standard 200 volts of power for the camera and accessories. It prevents any power drops over long distances and ensures a stable optical signal. If the cable is damaged or an earth leak is detected, the power automatically shuts down to eliminate any danger.
Professional Studio Camera Controls
The converter helps you transform professional cameras such as the URSA Broadcast and the URSA Mini into a complete professional studio camera. It adds the broadcast studio camera controls to the back of the camera with additional connections for convenient use. The studio cameras usually have camera controls at the rear and the broadcast cameras have them on the side of the camera. The addition of controls at the rear and the SMPTE fibre cable transforms your camera completely for designated broadcast use. You get 3 return video feeds, 2 separate broadcast standard 5-pin talkback connections, connections for PTZ and trackers, 2 extra audio inputs, and additional DC and D-tap outputs for powering the accessories.
Dual Channel Talkback
It provides 2 dual-channel digital talkback connections that can be used with the professional 5-pin XLR talkback headsets. There are also controls for mixing in program return audio with your talkback headset so that the volume can be adjusted as needed. The talkback intercom is used for both production and engineering. There is an additional backup channel available for troubleshooting that automatically switches over and uses the data pair in case the SMPTE cable is not working. The standard 10-pin connection for the tracker talkback inside the converter is used when both headset connections are in use and an additional talkback connection is needed to be fed.
Durable Construction
It has a durable metal construction and is made from high-end components for professional broadcast use. Its professional design matches the URSA Broadcast, URSA Mini cameras, or any other camera that supports a standard battery plate. It can be used for long hours and at any remote location, thanks to its capability of withstanding harsh outdoor conditions. It features full-size standard television industry connections with dust caps and an integrated VLock mount plate for accessory attachment. Two converters can be fitted side to side in a standard equipment rack, using the optional rack mount kit. The fibre cable is located on the front panel so that it is convenient to plug cameras.
10G Ethernet for IP Video
The SMPTE fibre connection is an open standard 10G Ethernet link and uses IP video for audio and control. It maintains a super-fast and low-latency Ethernet link. The video and feed returns are all IP video-based, and it uses high-end, lossless broadcast quality 10-bit video encoding and decoding. All other connections such as camera control, tally, talkback, and lens control are also converted to low-latency IP to deliver high quality and reliable performance.
