Acclaimed for its high-end optical design and classical styling, the 75mm f2 APO-Summicron-M Asph from Leica is a bright portrait-length lens specific to M-mount rangefinder cameras. The 75mm focal length affords a balance of dimensionality and compression, whilst the bright f2 maximum aperture benefits from low-light situations and provides improved depth of field control. In regard to its optical construction, the Leica 75mm f2 is characterised by its key apochromatic designation. This incorporates anomalous partial dispersion glass to actively eliminate colour fringing and chromatic aberrations, one high refractive aspherical lens element, and a floating element to maintain clarity and sharpness throughout the full focal range. Adhering to Leica’s tried-and-tested manual focus design, the 75mm f2 is incredibly compact and well-balanced. This combination allows for a minimum focusing distance of 6cm, whilst also allowing further access to 49mm screw-in filters.

Optical Construction
The Leica 75mm f2 is characterised by its key apochromatic designation. This relates to the inclusion of anomalous partial dispersion glass to actively eliminate colour fringing and chromatic aberrations. This further improves clarity and colour accuracy throughout the full aperture range. In addition to this, one high refractive aspherical lens element and one floating element are implemented to maintain clarity and sharpness. As a detail-orientated portrait-length lens, this 75mm f2 offers maximum edge-to-edge detail transfer and pure colour reproduction. This is apparent over all distances and every F-stop setting.
Sharpness, Clarity, and Colour-Accuracy
Promising class-leading optics and first-rate image quality, the Leica 75mm f2 is truly a high-performance lens with a multitude of creative applications. The 75mm focal length provides a balance of dimensionality and compression for portraiture, whilst the bright f2 maximum makes it an ideal companion for both rural and urban explorations. Further to this, the 75mm f2 achieves incredible high contrast values, which means that it is capable of producing an image with clear distinctions between sharpness, unsharpness, and the isolation of subject details.
The Magic of the M-Mount Range
The Leica M portfolio is a collection of lenses developed to fulfil the most stringent quality demands for both digital and analogue photography. Their image quality is second-to-none, pairing effortlessly with Leica’s range of compatible high-resolution camera systems. M-mount lenses were first made famous by street photographers such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Frank, and Sebastiao Salgado. Unrivalled in resolution, contrast, structure, tonal depth, and overall performance - the Leica M-mount range consists of a special breed of camera lens.

FAQs:
Is this 75mm lens 6-bit coded?
As with all current Leica M-mount lenses, this 75mm f2 lens is 6-bit coded.
Does this lens pair well with the Leica M10?
The Leica 75mm f2 works exceptionally well with the Leica M10. Sometimes 90mm lenses can cause issues with focusing at wide apertures, but this is not an issue with the 75mm f2. It also provides a balance of dimensionality and compression for detailed portraiture.
How does the depth of field compare to 35mm and 50mm equivalent lenses?
The depth of field of this 75mm is less forgiving than a 35mm/50mm equivalent, which does mean that it takes practise when working at wider apertures.
Does this come equipped with a removable front and rear lens cap?
The Leica 75mm f2 does come with the Leica Lens Cap for 135mm f3.4, and the Leica Rear Lens Cap for M-Mount Lenses.
