The BirdDog P4K is an advanced PTZ camera with an intelligent design and 1-inch 14.4MP Sony Sensor which together offer stunning 4K 10-Bit video capture with Full NDI. The Sony Exmor R CMOS back-lit sensor offers up 4K 30p video capture and the Full NDI, you'll benefit from variable bit rates and an I-Frame codec that offers 140Mbits at 1080p60. This sensor is paired with an intelligent optical system that uses Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T zoom lens that provides crisp and clear images throughout its 18x optical zoom range (18x digital zoom in 4K or 24x zoom in FHD). The P4K is equipped with an incredible 1-inch 14.4MP Sony Exmor R CMOS backlit sensor which is how this PTZ is able to consistently capture such high-quality footage in all of its shooting modes/frame rates whether that may be HD or 4K. Complementing this, the P4K is a Full NDI camera meaning that it benefits from variable bit rates and an I-Frame codec that offers 140Mbits at 1080p60. In addition to this, the P4K is designed for rigorous live productions and with that, it supports each and every standard frame rate including 29.97.

But there's more, the P4K offers 24p enabling it for use for TVC's and dramas, proving a cinematic look and feel to the footage. Adding to the quality of the video capture is the Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens. The super-high-quality and precision glass optics and T coating provide crisp and clear images with reduces ghosting and flare. The P4K is all about flexibility and making recording and setup as easy as possible. To begin with, the P4K has a wide range of connectivity options including the Full NDI, two 6G-SDI ports and two HDMI active outputs. This should cater to almost any workflow and will provide the stunning results that this camera is capable of. Naturally, as a PTZ, this must be controlled remotely. The P4K offers a wide range of options for you such as remote control via NDI, VISCA over IP, RS422, RS485, RS232 or via the supplied IR remote. Finally, to add to the flexibility of the P4K is its power options. The P4K can be powered by either DC or the impressively powerful PoE++.

Advanced and Intuitive Controls

The P4K features precision and super-sensitive robotics that make for impressive smooth and fluid movements. The advanced robotics allow you to slow down panning and tilting speeds for dramatic panning shots worthy of cinematic application, but equally can be sped up for fast-action sports designed for following player movements. However, it's not just the movement that can be controlled. You have enhanced control over colour with user-selectable gamma settings and black gamma adjustment. This allows you to fine-tune the video capture to best suit your purposes whether it be for live sports, cinematic, theatre use. And thanks to a 360-degree tally light, everyone in the production crew can easily see which camera is live.

Free BirdDog Software Tools

The P4K is compatible with a range of free BirdDog software that is designed to help you optimise the operation of your PTZ. BirdDog Central Pro is used for centralised NDI distribution, Comms Pro allows you to use NDI for instant comms systems, Multi-View for custom NDI multiview, and the Cloud for running your NDI production direct over the internet. These software tools are free to use and should be utilised for enhanced productivity and operation.

Is the P4K suitable for mounting outdoors?

The P4K has no IP weather-resistance it is not advieable to mount outdoors. However, you should choose to do so, it must covered at all times.

Is this available in other colours?

The P4K is available in both Black and White.

What is a PTZ camera?

PTZ cameras are cameras that are mounted to a surface and offer pan-tilt-zoom options. They're capable of remote directional and zoom control meaning you have enhanced control of the view range that the specific camera offers.

Who are PTZ cameras aimed at? What are they suitable for?

PTZ systems are usually used in Outside Broadcast, remote Studio set-ups, reality TV, House of Worship set-ups, Concerts and Theatre. Basically anywhere where multiple angles are needed but aren't practical to have an operator at each camera.

The BirdDog P4K weighs just 3.4kg and is suitable for exterior installation. However, it has no IP weather resistance so should be covered at all times.
